...not that anyone noticed my absence, but I'm back anyway.
I was on vacation in southern Europe and visited Italy, Greece and Malta. And HOLY SHIT, what happened while I was gone!
DeMuro bought a Hummer, RCR started a Patreon, Königsegg launched a not-hybrid-hybrid, JEZZA WAS SUSPENDED... What the hell, guys?
What else did I miss? What did Oppo do while I was gone?
Have some pictures I took during my trip as a Souvenir for you guys:
Peugeot Police car bombing my picture:
For the first time ever, this Suzuki looked huge:
Nice license plate, damn what a cool car. The Golf GTI and the FoST might be faster, but damn... this car looks cool:
The bastard son of a godless era:
Austin Cooper S and a Z3, surprisingly common cars in Rhodes:

I saw countless Austin Minis in Portugal. Traveling doctors tend to love them for some reason.

Been keeping up with Fantasy WRC?

Hot rodders call a headlight that's recessed with no chrome ring "frenched". I call it on this Bim "kind of stupid looking".

I was able to send my picks from a shady free Wifi in Rome, but nothing else. I'm catching up WRC Mexico right now. I have no idea who won.

Not a surprise who won, but someone did roll it into a lake......

This is awesome!
Nice story telling with the pictures. Congratulations for your new baby.

BMW calls it the "E46 Compact", I call it the "E46 Until I saw it with my own eyes I didn't believe it actually existed, and it's even more hideous in person".
Other cars I didn't believe existed that I saw in Europe:
Renault Twizy (there are LOTS of them)
Smart Roadster
Fiat Multipla

I admit to being a fan of the BMW Kompact, at least in its US-available, E36 version. If you could put a regular E46 front end on that thing, then ... maybe?

I just saw the onboard of Ott, a pelican was to blame probably.
And yeah... my heart is always rooting for Latvala, but my mind always picks Ogier for the win.
Have to agree with Tiff:

I think the E36 Compact is really cool. I'd love to have seen more versions of the E36, like a 328.
And besides these weird headlights the E46 Compact is also a very cool car. I wonder what went through BMW's mind when they thought this was a good idea.

Agreed - it is a cool car. What were they thinking? They didn't feel the need to differentiate the E36 hatchback from the other versions by giving it goofy headlights, why do it with the E46?

And it's like when they came to their senses they not only completely ceased making Hatchback 3-series, but they introduced a completely new car, the 1-series. Such a regret and trauma the E46 Compact was...

Just look at it! Now that I'm paying attention, you won't be able to give it a facelift by simply swapping out the front fascia. No, you'll probably need a new hood and possibly quarter panels, too.

Yup. Bumper and headlights alone aren't enough. Best chance is to either modify the hood and quarter panels or take them from a crashed car.
It'd be interesting to see someone mix a nice car like a 330Ci with the Compact. Like a 330 Compact. Probably too expensive and too much work to consider a serious option, unless you have a lot of time, the required materials at hand and no other thing to do with them.
